A Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter crew rescued two hikers who were stranded at a remote beach in the Point Reyes National Seashore.

The helicopter was deployed Saturday after the Marin County Fire Department requested help in the rescue. The hikers were traveling near Elephant Rock when a high tide blocked their exit route, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The crew flew to the hikers and dropped down a 100-foot line to them. A flight officer then secured them into a “hot seat” device before they were extracted and flown to nearby county firefighters, authorities said. No injuries were reported.
