RICHMOND – Officers shot and killed a person Monday in Richmond, authorities said.
The shooting happened in the 400 block of First Street, according to the Richmond Police Department.
Officers were called to a home based on a report of a person who was threatening to kill his mother and brother, authorities said. They arrived to find the person holding a knife in each hand.
The person charged at the officers, who in turn opened fire, authorities said.
Additional details were not immediately available.
Authorities asked people to avoid the area and use alternate routes as the roadway is expected to be closed for several hours.
