PANOCHE, Calif. – A fast-moving wildfire swelled to 330 acres Thursday night in San Benito County, injuring two people and threatening a structure, according to Cal Fire.

The blaze, dubbed the Panoche Fire, broke out around 4:10 p.m. on Panoche Road, near Payne Creek Road and west of the unincorporated community of Panoche.

As of 8:10 p.m., the fire had burned 330 acres and was 0% contained, Cal Fire said in an incident update.

“Firefighters are actively battling a rapidly moving vegetation fire in the Panoche Valley region of southeastern San Benito County,” Cal Fire said. “The fire is burning in light, flashy fuels and mixed brush, contributing to fast-moving fire behavior.”

The two people injured in the fire were taken to an area burn center, according to Cal Fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
