Berkeley, a Look Back: Council OKs site for new library branch in 1925

A century ago the Berkeley City Council approved purchase of a lot at this corner of what is today Woolsey Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way for a South Berkeley branch library. The building that resulted still stands but became the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church’s new home in 1968. (Steven Finacom for Bay Area News Group)

The building constructed for the southside facility later became what remains a church today.
