In a 39-page opinion shared Thursday, California’s Sixth Appellate District reversed a lower court’s decision that allowed a group of homeowners to cordon off public access to a walkway along the beach in Rio Del Mar so it can be used as private patio space. We are grateful to the Coastal Commission and other community partners who stood by us to protect this coastal access for all County residents to enjoy," county spokesperson Jason Hoppin wrote in a statement. "These principles are worth fighting for, and the County is proud to have done so here.”
