OAKLAND — Two men were found shot to death at an East Oakland gas station Thursday morning, authorities said.

No other details about the victims were released.

The shooting was reported at about 11:40 a.m. on the 1100 block of 98th Avenue, between D and B streets.

A motive for the shooting was not known and police did not announce any arrests.

The killings are the 56th and 57th homicides investigated by Oakland police in 2025. Last year at this time, police had investigated 72 homicides.

Before Thursday, the city had gone nearly a month without a homicide. The last person killed was a 36-year-old man fatally shot in Arroyo Viejo Park, near Olive and Ritchie streets, in East Oakland on Oct. 7.

Anyone with information about the double homicide is asked to call police at 510-238-3821 or the tip line at 510-238-7950.
