ANTIOCH — A 17-year-old boy was killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday night, police said.

His name has not yet been released and police have not said where he lived.

In a news release, police said that about 11:49 p.m. Sunday officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 1100 block of Macaulay Street near West 14th Street and that a person had been shot.  The area is primarily residential.

Police found the youth near the front yard of a residence suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said evidence recovered at the scene  indicated it was a drive-by shooting and that the victim was outside when he was shot.

Investigators were interviewing witnesses Monday to try and identify any suspects or persons of interest.

A motive has not been released yet.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call the police non-emergency line  at 925-778-2441 or Detective Gerber  at 925-779-6943.  Those with information may also text a tip to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word Antioch.
