OAKLAND — Skyline will be back on the field this weekend after forfeiting its game last week, coach KC Adams told the Bay Area News Group on Monday.

“Yes, we will,” is how Adams responded via text when asked if his team will play on Friday night at Vallejo.

Skyline forfeited its game against Windsor last Friday after a fight on the Skyline campus.

“This has been a very difficult week in Oakland because of the shooting that happened on Wednesday, and certainly tensions are high across the district,” Oakland Unified School District spokesman John Sasaki told the Bay Area News Group on Saturday, referring to a shooting at the King Estates education campus that left at least two people in critical condition. “There’s a lot of concern about community, school and student safety. Because of how rough this week has been, the decision was made to, unfortunately, cancel the game.”

Adams added Monday, “Yes, an incident happened on campus, but it was not between teammates.”

The forfeit dropped Skyline to 1-3.
