Searchers have recovered the body of a kayaker who went missing last week on Tomales Bay, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Clinton Yoshio Koga, 39, of Brentwood launched from Lawson’s Landing in Dillon Beach around 6:10 p.m. Friday to retrieve a crabbing cage, the sheriff’s office said. Later a friend realized he could no longer see Koga from shore and called authorities for help.
The U.S. Coast Guard, the Marin County Fire Department and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office searched by boat and from the air for two days with no sign of Koga. Koga’s friends also searched the bay.
Volunteers with California Rescue Divers, a search group, found Koga’s body around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday roughly 100 yards offshore from Lawson’s Landing.
The county coroner’s division plans to conduct an autopsy on Friday.
