The move-in to Sunnyvale’s new city hall is set to begin.

Several city departments are moving into the 117,107-square-foot building, located at the intersection of El Camino Real and South Mathilda Avenue, on March 16 and 17. In-person services at the old civic center campus at 456 W. Olive Ave. will be limited on those days. Online services will still be available.

The utility billing cashier and call center will close at noon on Friday, March 17.

The One-Stop Permit Center will be open on March 16 and 17 for building, fire, planning and public works permitting services. Residents are encouraged to use the city’s E-OneStop Online Services or call 408-730-7444 during the move.

Human Resources will be available at 408-730-7490 or humanresources@sunnyvale.ca.gov during the move. The city manager’s office can be reached at citymgr@sunnyvale.ca.gov or 408-730-7480.

The city clerk’s office will be reachable at cityclerk@sunnyvale.ca.gov or 408-730-7483. To connect with the Economic Development Department, residents can email econdev@sunnyvale.ca.gov or call 408-730-7607.

Services will resume on Monday, March 20 in the new city hall.

Public Safety headquarters and the Sunnyvale Public Library will remain open during the move.

The new city hall building is in line to receive a platinum LEED rating due to its sustainability features such as solar panels, water efficiency and close location to mass transit and shopping. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a certification system created by the nonprofit U.S. Green Building Council that recognizes sustainability achievement and leadership.

“The new city hall shows our commitment to climate action and sustainability, and it sets the example as the nation’s first LEED platinum, net zero city hall,” said Mayor Larry Klein in an email.
