Saratoga residents invited to ‘Paint the City’ with utility box artwork

‘Paint the City’ applications

Applications for Saratoga’s “Paint the City” program are due by March 12. Saratoga residents ages 10 and older can apply to add their artwork to one of three utility boxes in the city.

The Public Art Commission will then narrow down design options, and the community will vote for their favorites. For more information about the process or to see previous designs, visit www.saratoga.ca.us/paintthecity.

‘Let’s Work’ Volunteer Day

Saratoga’s Parks & Recreation Commission is hosting a “Let’s Work” Volunteer Day March 11, 9 a.m.-noon, to beautify and maintain the trails at Quarry Park. Those interested in participating can submit a volunteer interest form at https://saratoga.volunteerlocal.com before the event to receive additional information and instructions.

‘What I Wore’ on stage

Montalvo Arts Center will present a staged reading March 11 of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” a collection of stories by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman.

This encore performance brings back actors from Montalvo’s 2021 presentation The show starts at 8 p.m. in the Carriage House Theatre. Tickets are $58 at https://my.montalvoarts.org.

Embracing Equity

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Rotary District 5170—which includes the Saratoga club—is hosting an “Embrace Equity” event March 19, 4-7 p.m., at the Rotary San Jose Summit Center, 88 S. First St.

The event features a panel discussion moderated by Suzanne St. John Crane, CEO of the American Leadership Forum. Panelists include Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson, president of San Jose State University; Lisa Gauthier of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group; and Dr. Hilary Nixon, deputy executive director of SJSU’s Mineta Transportation Institute.

Tickets are $60 for Rotarians and $30 for non-Rotarians at https://rotarydistrict5170.org.
