Mail theft, check fraud: A Saratoga resident reported that someone stole mail a year prior from their mailbox in the 18000 block of Bellgrove Circle, and the mail contained a check that the victim discovered was cashed for a loss of about $5,000.

Fraudulent license plate, unlicensed driver: At 8:55 a.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Saratoga Sunnyvale Road and Herriman Avenue for expired registration. An investigation revealed a fraudulent license plate was affixed to the vehicle and the suspect was unlicensed. The suspect was cited and released.

False registration tab: At 12:29 p.m., deputies contacted a motorist in a vehicle parked at Pierce Road and Paramount Court for expired registration. An investigation revealed the suspect affixed a fraudulent registration tab to the vehicle. The suspect was cited and released.

MAY 23

Vehicle tampering: Between 9:50 a.m. and 8:40 p.m., someone tampered with a vehicle parked in the 18000 block of McFarland Avenue and stole the vehicle’s front license plate. The value of the plate was not provided.

MAY 25

Resisting/delaying peace officer, possession of drug paraphernalia: At 8:51 a.m., deputies responded to a suspicious person call at a residence in the 12000 block of Saratoga Creek Drive. An investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of drug paraphernalia and had an outstanding warrant. The suspect, who refused to cooperate and would not provide identifying information, was ultimately arrested, and booked into main jail.

Residential burglary: At 9:15 p.m., two suspects entered a residence in the 15000 block of Bellecourt by forcing a door open and stole a safe containing cash for a total loss of about $20,000.

MAY 26

Theft by credit card: Between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked at the Saratoga Country Club on Prospect Road and stole credit cards, then used the credit cards to make fraudulent purchases totaling approximately $2,041.

MAY 27

Vandalism: Between 8 p.m. on May 25 and 10 p.m. on May 27, someone pried open the locked mailbox of a residence in the 15000 block of Bestview Court, causing damage. It is unknown if any mail was stolen. The total amount of damage was about $500.

Vandalism, mail theft Between 6 p.m. on May 26 and 4:37 p.m. on May 27, someone pried open the locked mailbox of a residence in the 14000 block of Horseshoe Drive, causing damage, and stole an unknown amount of mail. The total amount of damage was estimated at under $400.

Residential burglary: At 2:32 a.m., someone entered a residence in the 14000 block of Okanogan Drive by prying a window open. The house was under construction, and nothing was reported stolen.

MAY 28

DUI: At 12:07 a.m., deputies stopped a motorist at Saratoga Sunnyvale Road and Thelma Avenue for equipment and traffic violations. An investigation revealed the suspect was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and booked into main jail.

Assault with a deadly weapon: At 10:05 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at O’Reilly Auto Parts on Prospect Road. An investigation revealed the suspect got into a verbal altercation with an employee, then struck the victim with their vehicle before fleeing the scene. The suspect was located a short time later, arrested, and booked into main jail.

Shoplifting: At 3:05 p.m., the suspect entered Safeway in the Argonaut Shopping Center on Saratoga Sunnyvale Road and took store merchandise without paying for a total loss of about $200. The suspect is known and at large.
