UNION CITY — One person died and another two were hospitalized following three stabbings early Thursday, police said.

Police said around 11 a.m. that officers were still were looking for a suspect, but that they did not believe there was any other threat to the public in the area.

In a statement, police said officers responded Thursday morning at an undisclosed time to the 33000 block of Almaden Boulevard and found three people stabbed when they arrived. One of them was dead at the scene.

Authorities did not identify the dead person; their name will be released after it is confirmed and officials are able to notify their next of kin. The homicide is the third one investigated by Union City police this year.

The other two stabbing victims each were taken by ambulance to a hospital and were expected to survive, police said.

Authorities put out an advisory about 9 a.m. about activity in the area, saying that the public in the area was not believed to be in danger.

Police said they still were investigating to find out the motive and asked anyone who might have information to contact Det. Andrew Smith at 510-458-3310 and AndrewS@UnionCity.org. Anonymous tips can be left at 510-675-5207 or sent to tips@UnionCity.org.
