SAN JOSE — San Jose police were investigating an unprovoked stabbing on the Penitencia Creek Trail near the Berryessa Community Center, according to authorities.
The alleged attack took place around 5:18 p.m. Tuesday, per police. Investigations revealed that a man was walking on the trail when he was suddenly stabbed from behind by another man.
Police said the suspect used a knife or a “sharp edged implement” in the attack. The victim was found with at least one stab wound, though he was expected to survive.
The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, according to a news release.
The motive is still under investigation, according to authorities. Police patrols will be increased in the area as the investigation continues.
