1/ Abuelita’s House, Antioch. A Peruvian restaurant specializing in sandwiches, empanadas and pastries.
2/ Roadside 22, Clayton. A wine and beer bar with a private events space and live music.
3/ Dolly’s Tavern, El Cerrito. Italian wine and beer bar with appetizers and desserts.
4/ Saffron Kitchen, Oakland. The former Golden Squirrel pub in Rockridge is now an upscale joint serving Afghan fusion.
5/ Pippal, Emeryville. Fast-casual Indian restaurant from the team behind San Francisco’s acclaimed ROOH.
6/ Good Luck Gato, Oakland. “Izakaya cantina” blends the best of Mexican and Japanese cuisine.
7/ Laughing Monk, Sunnyvale. It’s not totally new, but Faultline Brewing has been rebranded and given a new menu. The Scotts Valley restaurant has undergone the same makeover.
Closures:
• Adega, San Jose’s first Michelin star recipient, will mark its final month with two prix fixe tasting menus and an 11-course New Year’s dinner.
• Also announcing closures: Pasta Bene in Berkeley and the original Hobee’s in Mountain View. Kirk’s Steakburgers in Campbell is moving, but not far.
